Custom Baseball Full-Button Jerseys

This is the jersey baseball is pictured in. It is also the hardest of the four styles to get right, because everything on the front has to work around an opening that runs from collar to hem.

The placket decides the jersey

On a pullover, the front is one panel and there is little to go wrong. A button-front is two panels that have to behave as one. The placket has to lie flat instead of rolling, the buttons have to sit in a straight line down the centre, and the two halves have to close without pulling the chest graphic out of shape.

That is where a cheap full-button jersey gives itself away. Buttons wander off the centre line, or the placket ripples after the first wash. We check both on every sample before it leaves the floor, and it is worth checking yourself when yours arrives: button it up, lay it flat, and look down the centre line.

Getting artwork across the buttons

Any design that crosses the chest has to cross the opening. There are two ways to handle it, and they are not the same job.

Sublimated jerseys. We print the left and right front panels as a matched pair before the jersey is sewn, so a script, stripe or pattern meets correctly once the jersey is buttoned. Send the artwork as a vector file and we position it on the pattern, not on a flat mock-up.

Tackle twill lettering. Cut-fabric letters cannot bend over an opening, so chest lettering is cut in two pieces at the placket and stitched so the halves line up when closed. It is more work than a pullover and it is the detail to look at closely on your sample.

Plenty of brands use both: a sublimated body with twill numbers on the back, where there is no opening to work around.

Small choices that change the look

• Button colour. Matched to the placket keeps it quiet; a contrast colour makes the front line a design feature.
• Placket piping. A narrow piping down both sides of the opening reads as a pro detail at very little cost.
• Sleeve cut. Set-in sleeves for the traditional shape, raglan if the jersey shares a pattern with a pullover in your range.
• Body. Solid, pinstripe, or a full sublimated graphic — with pinstripes, check on the sample that the stripes meet across the placket.

Ten pieces per design, with sizes, player names and numbers free to vary inside that. Samples run 7–10 days from approved artwork; bulk is 2–4 weeks once you sign the sample off. Nothing starts before that signature.

Measurements for our full-button shirt, vest and jacket are published in the baseball size charts. Youth and adult sizes can be mixed in one order. Send a roster spreadsheet if each jersey carries a player name — one line per player, with name, number and size.
